Council and Company - Joining Forces to Help Marines
About this Event – Read Completely
The President of the Marine Corps Coordinating Council, Southeast Texas and the Owner of Serenity Roofing and Construction are doing it again in 2024. The intent of this event is to leverage the connections of the Council with the roofing skills of Serenity to give back to the Marine Corps Veteran Community.
We are seeking nominations for an honorably discharged MARINE CORPS VETERAN who lives in the Greater Houston Area, owns the home they live in and needs a NEW ROOF but cannot afford to get the work completed. Anyone can nominate a Marine Veteran for consideration during this event – Self-nominations will also be accepted.
This is not a service that is available to just ANY Marine Veteran. The person you nominate must fulfill the criteria listed below:
1. Must be a United States Marine Corps Veteran who lives in the Greater Houston Area.
2. Must have an Honorable Discharge. (General Under Honorable Conditions will not be accepted)
3. Must OWN and LIVE IN the home to be roofed. (Rental or Sublet Properties are not eligible)
4. Home size must be 1800sqft or less.
5. Must have a justifiable need. (Detailed justification can be written and submitted with application)
Photos of front of home preferred.
6. Must have a DD-214 that indicates Marine Service and Honorable Discharge.
Note: Replacement will be for SHINGLES ONLY – Roofs in need of MAJOR REPAIR are not eligible.
NOMINATIONS will be collected from September 25, until 5:00pm on December 15, 2024. Five Finalists will be selected from all nominations submitted by a combined team consisting of Marine Corps Coordinating Council, Southeast Texas Officers and a Serenity Roofing and Construction Executive Team. The Five Finalists will be notified of their selection.
Once notified, an Inspection Team from Serenity Roofing and Construction will inspect each Finalist’s roof. From the Five Finalists, One Winner will be selected and notified by January 10, 2025. The Winner’s roof installation will be completed in January 2025.
NOTE: Nomination Forms are posted below. Forms must be completed and received by the Marine Corps Coordinating Council, Southeast Texas no later than 5:00pm December 15, 2024.

The instructions listed below will assist you in completing the ROOFING EVENT NOMINATION FORM.
Nominator (Self-Nominations will be Accepted)
Anyone can nominate a qualified, deserving, Marine Veteran for this event. Many truly deserving Marine Veterans will not ask for help. Sometimes we need to be the ones to facilitate assitance. If you know a Marine Veteran who is truly in need of a new roof and meets the criteria, send the nomination.
Although you may want to nominate a qualified Marine Veteran anonymously, we would prefer to know who you are so we can let you know whether your nominee was selected. The information we are asking for is your:
1. Name
2. Address
3. Phone Number
4. Email Address
This will allow us to “Keep you in the Loop” regarding your nominee.
Nominee
Your nominee must be an Honorably Discharged Marine Corps Veteran. General Discharges Under Honorable Conditions will not be accepted for this event. Self-nominations will be accepted for this event. If you know that you fit the criteria of the event feel free to nominate yourself.
The information we MUST HAVE about your nomineee is:
1. Name
2. Address
3. Phone Number
4. Email Address
This will allow us to contact the nominee if they are selected as one of the Five Finalists. If you are self-nominating please indicate this on the Name Line of this block.
Documentation Checklist
Because of the significance of this event, all listed documentation MUST BE PROVIDED if a nominee is selected as one of the Five Finalists.
The documentation needed is:
1. A valid DD-214 indicating Honorable Service as a United States Marine
2. Proof of Home Ownership and Personal Occupation of the property.
3. Proof that the home is1800sqft or less.
4. Justifiable need of this gift. It would be preferred if a written statement from the Nominator accompany
the Nomination Form upon submission to provide background about the Nominee and home and
photos of the front of the home to be roofed. This also applies to self-nominations.
5. Acknowledgement that the roof replacement will involve replacement of SHINGLES ONLY. Roofs
needing MAJOR REPAIR will not be eligible for this event.
Timing is Everything!
Nominations will be accepted from September 25 through 5:00pm on December 15, 2024. Any submissions that arrive after the ending date and time will not be eligible for selection. If you feel that a Marine Veteran you know is eligible for this event, do not delay in sending your nomination. This also applies if you are self-nominating.
Also, the value of a written justification statement and photos of the front of the home cannot be stressed enough. Be DETAILED and HONEST in your justification and take good photos. Give your nominee or yourself every advantage to be selected.

Nomination Forms are posted below in .pdf format. You must download the form then complete it. If you can complete the form using Adobe please do so. if you must complete the form by hand, that is okay too. Please write legibly. If we cannot read what you have written, it will make it very difficult for your nomination to proceed.
Once you have completed your form you can scan then send it via email to the Marine Corps Coordinating Council, Southeast Texas at: [email protected] This is the preferred method of form submission. As stated above, attach a Justification Statement to your submission to give weight to your nomination.
An alternate method of submission is to download and complete the form then mail it and the justification statement to:
